Check your vehicle’s make, model, year and vent position before installing. Use the Finder at the top of the home page to confirm that a VentTab is offered for your vehicle. Follow the vehicle-specific downloadable or printable instructions before this general guide.
What is included?
1 unit = 1 VentTab for 1 AC air vent. Installation instructions are available through the website’s downloadable or printable guides.
What tools do I need?
In most cases, none. A 90-degree pick tool may help secure the VentTab on the louver. Use it carefully to avoid damaging the vent or surrounding trim.
Does the vent or dashboard need to come off?
Most vehicles allow installation with the vent assembly in place, without dashboard removal. Check your specific vehicle’s instructions before starting. Do not assume that instructions for replacing a complete vent assembly apply to replacing a VentTab. If the removal requirements for your vehicle are unclear, contact support before removing trim, the console or the vent assembly.
Fit checks before installation
Confirm the make, model, year, vent position and ordered VentTab match. Check that the louvers are present, seated and functional. A new VentTab cannot repair a broken or missing louver. Identify the louver that held the original tab and the vertical post that moves the louvers.
General installation steps
Remove debris and remaining pieces of the old tab from the original mounting louver.
Position the new VentTab on that same louver, with its legs on the bottom.
Align the two forks on the back of the tab so they straddle the vertical control post.
Push the tab toward the interior of the vent until it slides onto the louver and snaps into place. Stop if it will not align or requires excessive force.
Gently move the tab left/right and up/down to confirm it has captured the post and moves the louvers correctly. Check airflow and that the tab stays secured.
Safety and support
Install with the vehicle parked and the HVAC off. Do not force the tab, louvers or trim. Stop if parts are cracked, loose or damaged, or if installation would require working near wiring or airbag components without vehicle-specific instructions.
Contact support before continuing if your vehicle is not in the Finder, the vent has been modified, removal requirements are unclear, or the tab will not fit. Contact support after installation if the tab will not stay secured, airflow is restricted or a tab breaks. Include your make, model, year, vent position, order details and clear photos of the vent and tab.
